John Nathan Harrison

John Nathan Harrison, age 79, of Gainesville, passed away September 17, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones. J.N. resided in Hall County, Ga. He was a graduate of Riverbend High School and Truett-McConnell College where he had the pleasure of playing on the schools' basketball teams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country at various stations across the U.S. and one tour of duty in Puerto Rico. He later met and married his wife of 55 years, Judy Turner Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.

For 35 years, J.N. worked for Equifax. He also served with the Gainesville Jaycees and on the Hall County Board of Education, including a term as chairman. J.N. found joy in gardening, riding horses, bee keeping, and spending time with his family. J.N. 's quiet smile and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met. He maintained his well-known sense of humor throughout his entire life. J.N. will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who will always remember him as a man of incredible strength who was totally dedicated to the ones he loved.

Mr. Harrison was born April 25, 1931 to the late Loy C. Harrison, Sr. and Ella Shubert Harrison. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Vera Starnes, Mary Dyer, and Mildred Harrison, and brothers, Alvin and L.C. Harrison, Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Turner Harrison; daughter and son-in-law, Pat Harrison and Allen Wilcoxon of Northport, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Robert Peek of Gainesville, GA; granddaughter, Kaley Peek; grandson, Seth Peek; grandson and wife, Buz and Ryann Wilcoxon; great granddaughter, Lohi Wilcoxon; grandson and wife, Andy and Jilli Wilcoxon; great grandsons, Wright and Evans Wilcoxon; sisters, Ruth Puckett, Viola Peppers, Shirley Long, and Barbara Polsfuss; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Doug Childs; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and special friend Lisa Wallen.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 20th at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Memorial Park North, 989 Riverside Drive. Reverend Buz Wilcoxon will officiate. Interment will follow at Concord Baptist Church, Clermont, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19th from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
