Mrs. Clydine Otwell Welch, age 99, formerly of Cumming and Buford, passed away Monday January 18, 2010. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Buford.
Mrs. Welch was born on September 23, 1910 to the late Penley and Martha Doss Hayes. She was a graduate of Forsyth County High School and was an alumna of the University of Georgia. She taught English in Forsyth County High and Chamblee High Schools for 35 years, and always kept up with many of her former students. Mrs. Welch was first married to Ralph Otwell and later in life married George Welch. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Welch; son, Larry Otwell; step-son, Charles Welch; grandsons, Larry Otwell Jr. and Justin Welch; sisters, Linnie Hamilton and Lillian Mansfield and brother, R.A. Hayes.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Sammy Otwell of Spartanburg SC, Terri Otwell McDonough of Hilton Head, SC, Lara Otwell Hubbard of Cleveland, Shana Otwell Graham of Cleveland, Chuck Welch of Cumming and Jamie Krulikowsky of Sparta, NJ; great-grandchildren, Scottie Otwell of Washington, D.C., Brittan Slaton, Layne Graham, and Landon, Logan and Hayden Hubbard all of Cleveland, Charlie Welch of Cumming and Tracy and Lauren Krulikowsky of Sparta, NJ; sisters, Nelle Arden of Arlington, VA, and Sara Davis Tift of Douglas; step-daughter, Elspeth Ross of Dunwoody and daughter-in-law, Marie Welch of Cumming.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 4:00 pm at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Martin and James Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
