Susie Florence Barron Elrod

Funeral services for Susie Florence Barron Elrod, age 79, of Demorest, will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 2:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Johnny Thomas and Rev. Kenneth McEntire will officiate with burial to follow the service in Habersham Cemetery.

Mrs. Elrod passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at her residence, her loving family by her side.

Born in Habersham County, Mrs. Elrod was the daughter of the late Wavery B. and Lexie Kastner Barron. She graduated from Clarkesville High School where she was the Salutatorian, recipient of the English Award, and member of the BETA club. Mrs. Elrod retired from Ames Textile Corporation with over 30 years of service. She worked in the winding department. Mrs. Elrod was a member of Habersham Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ernest Mitchell Elrod, sister Eulene B. Tatum, and brother Payton B. Barron.
