Thomas Hanson

Retired Lt. Colonel Thomas Wesley Hanson, age 75, of Sylvan Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverends David Hanson and Tom Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Hanson was born on August 28, 1934 to the late Robert Cole and Annie Lou Hanson. He retired from the United Stated Army after 23 years of service as Lt. Colonel. He was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lou Hanson of Gainesville, daughter, Priscilla Ann Hennessey of St. Simons Island, Georgia, son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Nancy Moore of Dahlonega, son, Van Moore of Dahlonega, brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Dave and Kay Hanson of St. Simons Island, Georgia, sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Morris Williams of Highlands, North Carolina, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
