Jack Weyman Smith

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Jack Weyman Smith, age 83 of Cleveland. Mr. Smith passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at his residence Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from the Cleveland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Huycke, the Rev. David Naglee, the Rev. Bill McCoy and the Rev. Aubrey McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.
Mr. Smith was born in White County on June 20,1925 to Melvin Young Smith and Cora West Smith. He served with honor in the United States Army during WWII receiving the Purple Heart for his service. Mr. Smith owned and operated Cleveland Tire Company for over 40 years and was a volunteer with the White County Fire Department as well as a volunteer leader with Boy Scout Troop 48. Mr. Smith also served as Head Usher at Cleveland United Methodist Church where he attended most of his adult life. In addition he served as a Security Guard at Innsbruck Golf Course, was an avid gardener and lover of his family and animals

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Smith, Hoyt Smith, Paul Smith, Charles Smith and sisters Mildred Hood, Jimmie Nell Cole and Helen Smith

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Vivian Vandiver Smith, Cleveland; son and daughter in law, Steve & Cindy Smith, Cleveland; son, Stan Smith, Rock Hill, S.C.; daughter and son in law, Susan & Tracy Adams, Buford;

Grandchildren, Jonah Simmons, Watkinsville; Joe, Peter and Ben Adams, Buford; Rachel & Alex Smith of Fort Mill, S.C.; Great Granddaughters, Bella & Cloey Simmons, Watkinsville; brother, Bill Smith, Cleveland; brother in law, Dan Vandiver as well as his special friends, Nicky, Yoder, Happy and Snowball
