Hazel Rena Fennell Ludwig

McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Hazel Rena Fennell Ludwig, age 88, of Cornelia who passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness.


Born in Habersham County of November 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James Prelo and Emmaline Horne Fennell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ludwig was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Earl Ludwig. Sr.; brothers, Jack Fennell, George Fennell and Wendell Fennell; sisters, Kathryn Martin and Bertha Nicholson; grandson, William Shannon Coffee; and great-grandson, Stephen Floyd Ross.


Mrs. Ludwig was a member of the Oakey Mountain Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, crotcheting and spending time with her family.




Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jerry Sullins of Cornelia; Cindi and Ronny Petty of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond, Jr. and Gail Ludwig of Clarkesville; daughter, Cathy Dodd of Cornelia; son, Roger Dale Ludwig of Demorest; sisters, Doris Rumsey, of Toccoa; and Betty Leonard of Cleveland; approximately 40 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; special friends, J.L. and Betty Browner of Cornelia.


Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from Oakey Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Williams officiating.


The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the VA Hospital in memory of Raymond and Hazel Ludwig, 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
