N. Otis King

N. Otis King, age 67 of Commerce, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 03, 2008 at BJC Hospital.

Born in Banks County, GA, he was the son of Lois Howington King, Commerce, GA and the late William Wiseman King. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chirstopher Todd King and his brother, Paul King of Commerce, GA.

Mr. King was a long time employee of the textile industry at the Mt. Vernon Mill of Harmony Grove Mills. He was a past member of the Commerce Jaycees, a former member of the Commerce City Council, a former pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle of Commerce and an avid golfer and fisherman.

Along with his mother Mr. King is survived by his twin brother, Odell and Jean King of Ila, GA; children, Amanda French of Commerce, GA; Lynn and Randy Poole of Lula, GA; Melanie and Kevin Lawhorn of Apple Valley, GA; and Adam Matthews of Athens, GA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew, golfing partner of 25 plus years, Hollis Ray, Jefferson, GA; long time friend and companion, Dianne Matthews, Commerce, GA.

Funeral services for Mr. N. Otis King will be conducted on Thursday, June 05, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Johnny Klugh and Revs. Curtis Greene and Swayne Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and at other times at the residence at 183 Brookwood Ave., Commerce, GA.
