Mr. Meaders passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003 in Warner Robins, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cleveland.
Mr. Meaders was born on May 12, 1921 in White County, GA. He was a son of James and Lilly Glover Meaders, Sr. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Asbury Sunday School Class. Mr. Meaders retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1979. He also served in the United States Air Force with the Flying Tigers from 1943-1946 and in the Korean Conflict in 1951. Mr. Meadors had been a member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years.
A nationally known potter, Mr. Meadors served as a Smithsonian Museum representative for the Georgia Folk Arts Display at the 1996 US Olympics in Atlanta, GA. His art works are on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Arts and Science, the University of Georgia Museum, and at the Atlanta History Center. A number of books have been published featuring Mr. Meaders' art. For 20 years Mr. Meaders demonstrated his craft at the Mossy Creek Festival in Houston County.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Webb Meaders, Warner Robins, GA; children, Karan and Dr. John Slaughter, Mobile, AL, Janna and Steve Gray, Perry, GA, Cleater and Ann Meaders, Hoschton, GA; sister, Virgie Black, Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Dru and Page Slaughter, Melanie and Kenneth Dreibelbis, Lena Ashley and Kevin Jackson, Adam Gray, Ashley Janna Gray, Clay Meaders and Cole Meaders as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
