Katherine Kimbrough Hosch Jessup

Katherine Kimbrough Hosch Jessup, 89, died July 31, 2006. Mrs. Jessup was born in Gainesville, Georgia on March 25, 1917, the daughter of Lester Hosch and Elizabeth Kimbrough Hosch.
She was educated in the Gainesville City Schools and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1939 achieving the honor of Phi Beta Kappa and a Master's Degree in Journalism.
She taught in the Bibb County and Hall County Schools. Mrs. Jessup worked in Washington, DC, in 1941 at the U.S. Pentagon and as a Red Cross worker during World War 11. She married Lauren Eugene Jessup of Eastman, Georgia in 1944. Mr. Jessup practiced law in Macon and died in 1956.
Mrs. Jessup returned to Gainesville in 1963. She was a member of Floramore Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville. Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren Eugene Jessup and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Hosch O'Sullivan Matthews.
She is survived by four children: Katharine Jessup Evans of Marietta, May DeLacy Jessup Smith of Clermont, Lauren Angeline Jessup of Gainesville and William Eugene Jessup of Macon; two nieces; grandchildren, Kathryn (Mrs. Chris) Vinson and Joseph Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee, Charles and William Evans of Athens, Georgia and Jessup Evans of Kennesaw.
Mrs. Jessup will be buried at Riverside Cemetery in Macon on Friday, August 4, 2006. Mason & Ward Funeral Home of Gainesville and Hart's Mortuary of Macon are in charge of arrangements.
