James Odell Hopkins

James Odell Hopkins, age 72, of Demorest, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Born on April 6, 1952, in Clayton, Georgia, he was a son of the late Odell Hopkins and Elizabeth Callenback Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins worked in construction for many years. James was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing but most of all he loved his family especially his Grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving partner of 35 years, Charlotte E. Dodd of Demorest; his sons, Samuel Odell Hopkins (Tina louise Dalton) of Cornelia, Dewey James Hopkins (Christine) of Toccoa, and Shawn Byrd; daughter, Tracey Barcenas  of Clayton; brothers, Jimmy Ray Hopkins and Thomas Hopkins all from Habersham; sisters, Dorothy Hopkins and Darlene Woodall all from Clayton; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Taylor officiating.
