In 1950, Harry graduated from Avondale High School.

He was a Korean War Veteran. He spent 13 ½ months in the “Iron Triangle” in North Korea. He served with the combat engineering battalion attached to the 2nd and 25th division.

Harry served over 30 years with the Dekalb County Police Department. During this time, he worked on the Homicide Squad and was promoted to Sargent and received a commendation for bravery. During this time Harry received a Bachelor of Science in law from John Marshall Law School.

In 1972, the State of Georgia passed a law that all police officers should be properly certified.
