Alice Ann Martin

Obituary Date: Tuesday, March 5, 2024

Mrs. Alice Ann Martin, 88, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 the Chapel of Memorial Park. Dr. Jerry Gill, Dr. Tyler Smiley and speaker, Matthew Minor. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on July 11, 1935 in Putnam CT, she was the daughter of the late Laura Ruelle. She was a long time member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Martin graduated from Putnam High School in CT. After graduating from high school she received her nursing degree in CT. During her time as a registered nurse in MA, Alice was the nurse of Jackie O. Kennedy. There she also met Senator John F. Kennedy. Later she moved to Hall County where she received her Georgia Registered Nurse Degree. Mrs. Martin was employed with Northeast Georgia Medical Center for over 7 years. She later went to work with the Hall County Health Department where she became a Family Nurse Practioner and worked in many departments. She retired from the Hall County Health Department.  She was a member of Eastern Star. While attending Lakewood Baptist Church, she enjoyed helping on many projects and special events.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Ruelle; her adopted mother, Alice Osier; husband, Eugene B. Martin; daughter, Deborah Atkins; grandson, Nathan Atkins; daughter in law, Evelyn Martin; mother and father in law, Grace and Vassie Martin.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter and son in law, Edith and William Jennings IV of Gainesville; son, Kent Douglas Martin of Gainesville; grandchildren, Doug Martin, Kimberly Minor, Sandie McClure-Howe, Misty and Cody Nguyen, Tonya and Jamie Wade, William Jennings V, Jeremiah and Megan Jennings, Mateus Jennings, 9 great- grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Roger and Betty Martin of Tyler TX.; and a number of other loving relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Georgia Nursing Academy, 3616 Southland Dr., Flowery Branch, GA 30542
