Mrs. Jeanne Marie Cook, age 77, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 12, 1946, to the late Ralph and Betty Jean Nelson Swendiman. Mrs. Cook attended and helped start Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cumming, Georgia. She retired from the IRS and was very successful in life. Many called her “Memaw.”
Memaw loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She taught them how to cook, sew, and make arts and crafts. She showed them, by example, how to be strong and how to love. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas; she loved snowmen, making cookies, pies, and sweet potato soufflé (her favorite). Her favorite colors were yellow and pink. She always had a diet coke in one hand and always ordered gifts from her favorite TV shows, QVC and HSN. She enjoyed taking her family to go shopping in stores and the mall. She loved the Fair, Six Flags, beach vacations, and going out to eat…especially Chinese food or Red Lobster. One of her favorite memories was seeing the Nutcracker with her family at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. She always made sure her family was safe, warm, comfortable, and fed. But, most of all, she loved her family, and she showed it!
In addition to her parents, she joined her late husband Perry Cook, Sr., and stepson Perry Cook, Jr.
Survivors include her sons Trent Cook, Brandon (Sandy) Cook, both of Dawsonville; stepchildren Theresa (Doug) Rose of Florida and Beverly Watts of Blue Ridge; brothers Tom, John, Trent, and Mark Swendiman; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Pastor Eddie Cain will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 12:00 PM to the service hour.
