Betty Sue (Scroggs) Ferguson

Mrs. Betty Sue (Scroggs) Ferguson, age 81 of Oakwood, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2023 at Memorial Park South Chapel with Rev. Randall Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. prior to the service at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ferguson was born December 2, 1942 to the late Roy Lee Scroggs & Claudia Reed Scroggs in Oakwood, Georgia. She attended Oakwood & Flat Creek Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian, mother, and friend.

She was the first instructor to teach Braille to the blind in Gainesville. She was raised on a farm and people who experienced that during those times, know how hard it was.

Mrs. Ferguson went back to school at Lanier Tech in 1985 for nursing and graduated valedictorian of her class. She worked many years at NE GA Medical center (3 East) and several more years as the nurse for Hall County Detention Center.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Ferguson & Scott (Nicole Leigh) Ferguson of Woodstock; brothers, Ronnie Scroggs of Gainesville, & Perry Scroggs of Oakwood; grandchildren, Rylan Ferguson, Ashlyn Ferguson, Elliot Charles Ferguson, Allison Padgett, & Benjamin Baxter; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.T. Ferguson; brothers, Ossie Scroggs & Jarrell Scroggs; sister, Hazel Holcomb; grandson, Grant Richard Ferguson and all of her in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Hall County.
