John F. Lovell

Obituary Date: Thursday, December 14, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John F. Lovell, age 63, of Gainesville, Ga. John was called home to be with the lord on December 14, 2023. He entered heaven peacefully and was surrounded by the love of his family.  

John was born in Athens, Ga at Saint Mary's Hospital to Dr. VC Lovell and JoAnne Collins Lovell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Hunter Lovell, brothers VC Jr. and Mike Lovell, father and mother in-law Clyde Sr. and Jewell Turner of Cleveland, Ga, sister in-law Joyce Crumley of Cleveland, Ga, brother in-law and sister in-law Clyde Jr. Turner and Velma Turner of Cleveland, Ga. 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Janna Turner Lovell, son and daughter in-law Spencer and Katie Lovell of Cornelia, Ga and their children, Emma Grace Davis and John Oliver Lovell, son and daughter in-law Luke and Maria Lovell, brothers Charles (Lynn), David (Ruth Anne), Rusty (Jan), and sister Deitra Lovell all of Gainesville, GA, sister Deborah Lovell (Todd Turansky) of Augusta, Ga, brother and sister in-law Betty (Joe) Crane of Aiken, SC. Also, survived by his dearest nephew Michael John Lovell and a host of many other loved nieces and nephews.

Johnny was a 1978 graduate of North Hall High School, he spent all his life in his hometown of Gainesville, Ga. He established and owned a successful real estate company, Lovell Reality, and later joined Simpson Company now Avison Young Commercial Real Estate as Vice President of Land, Investment Sales. He also continued to run and operate his family business Universal Concrete Wall Inc. 

Johnny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his pride and joy, he made sure that they knew how much he loved them. They are so thankful for the wisdom and guidance he shared with them. Even with busy work schedules he knew how important it was to bring them together for family time whenever possible. The family will especially cherish memories from the most recent early Christmas dinner he organized just a few days ago. He found endless joy through spending time with his grandson, Oliver Lovell, and showing him all the excitements of driving a truck, spotting deer, and most recently killing his first deer. He made many lifelong friends and memories throughout his life, he was full of humor and wit. Johnny was a loyal friend to all, who never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had many passions and knew how to live life to the fullest. Johnny was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He took great delight in sharing his deer meat and fresh grown garden produce with countless people. Johnny was a great salesman and a hard worker,  who was known for breaking multiple records in the real estate world. Johnny will always be known for his relentless spirit. He was a man whose goal was to continue to work while fighting his battle against cancer with never a complaint. He worked day and night to continue to provide for his family throughout that battle. Johnny fought courageously against cancer and lived a productive cancer free life for 12 years. He was a humble man with accomplishments that were many.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Memorial Park Riverside Funeral Home located at 989 Riverside Drive Gainesville, GA 30501. A celebration of Johnny's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday December 21, 2023. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The Reverend Jentzen Franklin and Dr. Bill Coats will officiate.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the medical staff at Emory University Hospital who took wonderful care of Johnny during his final day. Finally, the family would like to thank all of the special people who are praying for Johnny and his entire family during this very difficult time. We love and appreciate you all!
