Charles W. "Charlie" Clark

Obituary Date: Thursday, December 14, 2023

With the heaviest of hearts, our family announces the death of Charles W. Clark. Charlie (also fondly known as Daddy, Papa, Papa Charlie, Papa Alvin, Wheel and Jack) passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his residence at The Resting Nest, following an extended illness.

Throughout his life he was known for his water-skiing ability, softball third base coaching, supporting his kids and grands, being a true craftsman, tractor collecting and especially his knowledge and production of the most wonderful gardens. He shared his love of gardening with his family, but worked hand in hand with his sister, Sue, to provide for so many for many years. They not only provided for the community, but donated proceeds of their work to children’s ministries.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Effie Clark, brothers H.A Clark, Bob Clark, Jack Clark, Tom Clark and sisters Sue Pendley, Margie Peck, Thelma Delong and Kate Clark and infant daughter Misty Dawn Clark.

Left to cherish the many wonderful memories of Charlie are son, Chris (Wendy) Clark of Pendergrass, daughter Kim Pinson (Bryan Wright) of Gainesville and son Michael (Denise) Clark of Mount Airy. He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Cody (Chaunacey) Clark, Justin (Amy Grace) Clark, Jonathon (Lauren) Clark, Evan (Ansley) Clark, Grace Clark, Emmaline Clark, Elijah Clark, Benjamin Clark, Charlie Pinson, Steffani (Spencer) Jones, Brittani (Jacob) Renshaw, Sarah (Trent) Berdine, Daniel Clark, Payne (Erin) Wright, Anna Kate (Nic) Haynes and Allie Wright. And then, there are the precious great-grandchildren who will know how special their Papa was through the many “Papa” stories that will be passed down; Caden, Nate, Jackson, Preston, Avery, River, Nova, Gibson, Henry, Oliver, Darsey, Sadie, Hayden, Lucy Michael and Wright. Brothers, Wayne (Joyce) Clark and Pud (Bennie) Clark survive, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 16 from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-8:00 at Little Davenport Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 Sunday, December 17 in the chapel of Little-Davenport Funeral Home. Reverend Phillip Wehunt, Reverend Michael Clark and Reverend Ronnie Pendley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rock Hill C.H. Church Cemetery (now known as The Edge).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a youth ministry of your choice or to youth ministries at Hoschton Baptist Church, 380 Sam Freeman Road, Hoschton, Georgia 30548, North Hall Church, 4091 Mt. Vernon Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30506 or Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 24, Mt. Airy, Georgia 30563.

The family would like to thank the special staff at The Resting Nest for their heartfelt, loving care for Charlie in these last few months.
