James Darrell Dean

Mr. James “Jimmy” Darrell Dean, age 73 of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.  Jimmy was born on October 20, 1950 to the late Sandy and Bonnie Dean in Cleveland, GA.  He was a member of the Hell On Wheels while he was honorably serving his country in the US Army.  Jimmy was a Godly man and along with his strong faith in God, he was a jack of all trades.  He was an electrician, could work on anything with wheels, and will always be remembered for being the best drywall man around.  Jimmy was willing to help anybody solve a problem if it was in person or fix it over the phone.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Verlon Dean; and sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Skip Cathey.  Jimmy is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children, Connie Sue; daughter and son-in-law Erica and Eddie Mitchell; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Juliana Dean; grandsons, Baylon Mitchell (Brianna), Logan Mitchell, Nolan Dean, and Rhett Dean; sisters and brothers-in-law; Brenda and Rev. Gary Heffner, and Sharon and Ed Malcom, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Debbie Carter for the wonderful care that she showed to Jimmy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 1 until 3 PM.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3 PM with the Rev. Gary Heffner, Rev. Baylon Mitchell and Rev. Logan Mitchell officiating.

Interment will follow at Zion Interdenominational Church.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Jimmy would like to remind everybody “don’t take any wooden nickels.”
