Aleta Ann Thompson Herring, better known as ‘Teeny Weeny’, was born on April 9, 1966 in Gainesville Georgia to Harley Edward Thompson and Carol Sue Hood Scruggs of Gainesville Georgia.
Aleta peacefully transitioned with family by her side on November 9, 2023. She was 57 years old.
Aleta attended Gainesville High School. After high school, she worked in the manufacturing and production industry for many years. The last 20 years of her life she was a housewife and enjoyed her hobby as an entrepreneur.
Aleta was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife and grandmother. She married Benjamin Herring on October 2, 2022. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Her kindness and willingness to help others will always be remembered by the lives she touched.
Aleta is preceded in death by her mother Carol Sue Hood Scruggs, her sister Sharon Hood and her uncle Jerry Hood.
Aleta leaves her legacy and precious memories to her husband, Benjamin (Duke) Herring, two sons, Jacques (Trisha) Sandford of Winder, Georgia and Marquez (Tamiko) Sanford of Gainesville, Georgia. Three sisters, Valerie (Norah) Borders of Gainesville, Georgia, Vanessa Thompson of Gainesville Georgia and Laura (Ronnie) Zachary of Atlanta, Georgia. One Uncle, Horace ‘Baby Sugg’ Thompson of Baltimore Maryland and one Aunt, April Diane Hood of Athens, Georgia. Ten Grandchildren, one Great grandchild along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The visitation will be held Friday, November 17th at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hour so 12-8pm. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6-8pm. Mrs. Herring's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th at the hour of 1pm at Antioch Baptist Church. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
