Elmer Alvin Bolen

Elmer Alvin Bolen, age 91, of Jefferson, GA passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023.  He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Marie Lambert Bolen; children, Norman (Nancy) Bolen, Gregory (Teresa) Bolen, Pamela (Larry) Christopher; six grandchildren, Amy (Bryan) Beverly, Elizabeth Bolen, Larry Christopher, III, Jordan Christopher, Sean Bolen, Courtney Bolen; six great-grandchildren, Shayna Bolen, Simone Bolen, Harrison Christopher, Adalyn Christopher, Lucas Christopher, Eleana Bolen; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mr. Bolen was born on June 3, 1932 in Bud, W. VA and attended Maryland University College.  He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force with over twenty years of service.  During his military career, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal (May 26, 1964 to May 25, 1967) with one Bronze OLC, a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal (May 26, 1967 to May 25, 1970) with two Bronze OLCs, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Bronze OLCs.  He also retired from J. C. Penny Co. as a warehouse supervisor.  Mr. Bolen was a member of the Jackson County Baptist Church in Jefferson, GA, a former member of the Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford, GA, and a deacon at Winters Chapel Baptist Church.  He was in the Bus Ministry for eighteen years for the Winters Chapel Baptist Church.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Ferguson officiating.  Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, GA with Graveside Services officiated by Dr. Jack Lawson with full military honors.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC, Patriot Hospice, or Jackson County Senior Center in Jefferson, GA.
