Patricia (Pat) Ann Komegay

Obituary Date: Thursday, November 9, 2023

Patricia (Pat) Ann Kornegay of Demorest, Georgia, was blessed to see her Lord face-to-face on November 9th, 2023, after a brief hospitalization for heart trouble. Patricia was born on October 29th, 1943, in Elgin, Illinois to Ralph and Clara McCarthy. She grew up in Illinois, lived in coastal Florida almost 50 years, and spent the last 14 years in North Georgia.

She is survived by David, her husband of 60 years, and has 2 sons, Philip (Kim) and Daniel (Lisa). She has 8 grandchildren: Matthew, Joanna, Katie, Joshua, Josiah, Kayla (Denzel) Macklin, Seth and Christian. She has 2 great grandchildren: Malakai and Willa. She loved her 3 siblings, Carolyn (Darrel) Brewington, Alan (Kathy) McCarthy and Sherry (Bernie) Mock, and her many nieces and nephews.

After Patricia and Dave’s first date to Lake Aurora Christian Camp in Lake Wales, Florida, she soon committed her life to Christ and was baptized at First Christian Church in Largo, Florida. Patricia spent her life serving her family and sharing the joy of knowing Jesus with everyone she met. Over the years, she taught children’s church with Dave, wrote scripture poetry, published church newsletters, participated in Florida art shows, and played piano. She fished with her family on Florida waterways and beaches. She painted many landscapes and biblical stories and grew hundreds of vegetables and flowers in both home and church gardens. Along with her husband and family, Pat actively volunteered for many years with Eau Gallie Christian Church in Melbourne, Florida, and more recently with Harvest Christian Church in Clarkesville, Georgia.

Pat and Dave traveled to Japan 3 times, encouraging Phil and Kim’s family when they were missionaries. She enjoyed outings with Dan and Lisa’s family at local restaurants and recreation areas such as Unicoi State Park. For the last 7 years, she and Dave were regular vendors at the Saturday morning Farmers Market in Cleveland, Georgia, where she offered flowers in cute vases and wooden garden signs that declared “Jesus Loves You!” and “Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life” painted among colorful flowers and butterflies.

Patricia was a loving wife, an encouraging mom and a ‘careful’ grandma who was kind to all who were blessed to know her. We will miss her very much, but we’re excited that she is home with Jesus, her Savior and friend.

Patricia’s family gathered for a graveside service at the Harvest Christian Church cemetery in Clarkesville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to North Georgia Christian Service Camp or to Team Expansion, a Christian missionary agency.
