David Donald Roper, Sr.

David Donald Roper Sr., 91, of Gainesville passed away Monday October 23, 2023.

Donald was born in Gainesville on May 16th, 1932, to David Boone Roper and Ruby Pinson Roper.

Donald was a lifetime resident of Gainesville, graduated from Gainesville High School in 1949.  He was a graduate of North College in 1953 and worked alongside his wife in the family business of Roper's Inc., Mr. Roper was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Norma Jarrard Roper. His parents, David Boone and Ruby Pinson Roper, his son-in-law Daniel O'Neal Carter and his brother-in-law Billy James Martin.

 Donald is lovingly remembered by his daughter Donise Roper Carter of Lilburn and son David Donald Roper Jr., partner Darrell Mercer of Atlanta., grandson; David O'Neal (Brittany) Carter of Loganville, Ga., granddaughter; Lauren Roxane Carter, partner Kristie Workman of Smyrna, GA., great-grandchildren; Dylan O'Neal Carter of Loganville, and Daniel Bryce Carter-Workman of Smyrna, GA. Donald is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Margaret Jarrard Martin of Gainesville, nephew; Wesley Eugene (Greta) Martin, of Gainesville, niece; Angela (Nick) Martin Massengill of Marietta. And many other great-nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023, at the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday October 26 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.
