Lois Alletta Lee

On a beautiful Fall day, the sun was shining, a strong breeze was blowing, and a sense of indescribable peace filled the house.  This beautiful day was when the Lord called Lois Lee home. Lois, age 75, fought and defeated kidney cancer several years ago. Now, after a long and exhausting battle with Dementia, she has won again, her reward being heaven. Lois peacefully left this life on October 20, 2023, with her daughter by her side. 

Born on January 24, 1948, in Gainesville, GA, Lois was the beautiful daughter of Maude Jones. Lois married her high school sweetheart, Lane Lee.  She was a dedicated wife to him for 57 years when he left this life before her in December 2022. Lois & Lane had two children, Bryan & Alletta. Bryan made his way to heaven in September 2021 before both of his parents. He always liked to pave the way.

Lois was a woman of strength and resolve. While her husband served his country in the Vietnam War, she kept things running smoothly at home. She was known for her work ethic. For many years, Lois was a butcher and worked in the meat department of several local grocery stores. Her favorite location was Sam’s Club. She was the best of the best when it came to selecting the perfect cut of meat, whether for herself or her customers. Known for hosting, Lois would select the steaks, and Lane would cook them to perfection. She truly enjoyed sharing a meal with her family and friends. Acts of service were her love language.

Lois lived life to the full, embracing every day she was given. She loved people, especially those who made her laugh. She loved laughing, and she loved dancing even more. Lois danced whenever possible, whether with a partner or by “buck dancing” by herself. She’s been known to pull in a partner or two from whoever was standing around, but her all-time favorite partner was always Lane. When they danced, it was as if they were gliding on ice. It was almost magical to watch.

Even in her final months, Lois never lost her zeal for living or her love for people. She was affectionately known as “Granny” by everyone who came to visit. She got excited about visits, especially when those visiting brought ice cream or cake. She embraced everyone whether she remembered them or not; every visit was a new adventure. Even with the adventures, Lois preferred to live a simple life and didn’t ever want a big fuss made over her. This has held true even down to these final arrangements.

Whether she was called Mom, Mama, or Granny, her departure left a hole in the hearts of her family and those who loved her. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Alletta & Dana Williams; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Lee; her grandchildren Tiffany Garner (Scotty), Dylan Lee (Shelby), Shelby Prichett (Joel); 6 great-grandchildren; and Sheila Knox, her beloved and indispensable caregiver. Lois is also survived by her brother, Bob Jones; sister, Brenda Allison; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 26, from 5 - 8 p.m.  W. R. Strickland & Sons, Clermont, Ga.
