Obituary Date: Tuesday, October 10, 2023

Charles (Chip) Franklin Almand Jr., 70, of Cumming, GA passed away Tuesday October 10,2023 at Northside Atlanta after many health complications.

Mr. Almand was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Charles Franklin Almand Sr. and Joan Pomar Almand. Known as "Chip or Chipper" to those he loved; He grew up in the Sandy Springs, Ga area before moving to Gainesville, GA in order to open and serve as manager for several area restaurants such as: Knickers, Peeches at the Tracks and The Longstreet Cafe.

Soon after, he and his wife and children moved to Cumming, GA where Chip worked in real estate for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. Pursing his love of all things outdoors, Chip went on to work for fifteen years at The Outside World in Dawsonville, GA and most recent was working in retail sales at Extra Mile Tools in Dawsonville, GA which he found the most joy in working with the public and a great group of coworkers who functioned as a family.

Mr. Almand loved his family, pets, friends, music, sports especially soccer and all things outdoors: kayaking, hiking and the beach. He was often described as "running for mayor" as he almost always never met a stranger: he had gone to school with them, played music with them, sold them a house or kayak, or simply just started a random conversation when bumping into them. Chip had a strong musical background as a drummer and singer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Almand, and brothers-in-law, Rick Howes and Todd McKenzie.

Mr. Almand is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Terri Denise McKenzie Almand of Cumming, GA; son, Dylan Todd Almand and daughter, Lauryn Elizabeth Almand, both of Atlanta, GA; sister, Jodie Howes of Pensacola Beach, Fl; sister-in-law, Valerie Almand Marietta, GA; brother, Patrick Almand, Marietta, Ga; and sister, Leslie(Jeff) Reynolds Cumming, GA; brothers-in-law, Christopher(Veronica) McKenzie Harrisburg, NC and Craig McKenzie Gainesville, GA; Father-in-law Bobby(Janice) McKenzie Oakwood, GA; and Mother-in-law Carol McKenzie of Gainesville, GA. A number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Friday October 13,2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in Cumming, GA in the upcoming future.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staffs at Northside Hospital Forsyth and Northside Atlanta for the care they showed towards Mr. Almand and his family during this most difficult time.
