Joyce Preston

Joyce Preston, 75, of Buford, Georgia passed away on Wednesday September 13, 2023.

Joyce was born on March 14, 1948 to Bryan Hill Preston and Maria Elizabeth Olsen in Cairo, Georgia. After Joyce graduated from Cairo High School in 1966 she attended cosmetology school to be a hairdresser.

Joyce married William Hoke McCurley February 9, 1973. Joyce and Hoke went on to have three children, Candice, Elisa and Bryan McCurley in Marietta, Georgia.

In 2009, Joyce retired from Gwinnett County Police Department as a records technician after 25 year of service to enjoy life as a grandmother.

Joyce was predeceased by her mother and father, Bryan and Maria Preston, her brother John Preston, her ex-husband Hoke McCurley, son Bryan McCurley and grandson Joshua Johnson who have all passed. She is survived by her sister Mary Lou Lewis, her daughters Elisa McCurley and Candice Stephens, her son-in-law Sean Stephens, grandchildren Atticus, Ansley and Johanna, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, and uncles. 

Services will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford on Saturday September 23, 2023, at 10 am (visitation) and 11 am (Going Home Celebration). Please feel free to wear purple or grey in celebration.
