Jimmy Cantrell

Jimmy Cantrell, 85, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Born August 24, 1938 to the late Arch and Lois Cantrell, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Jimmy retired from the Dawson County Road Department following 16 years of service.  He was also formerly employed by Vantress Farms and he owned and operated a poultry farm.  Mr. Cantrell was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching TV, especially westerns and Elvis movies.  He was of the Baptist faith and attended Goshen Baptist Church for many years.  Also preceding him in death was a son, David Cantrell; daughter, Kimberly Ann Cantrell; sister, Helen Cantrell; and brothers, Norman Cantrell, Glenn Cantrell, James Cantrell, and Arch Cantrell, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Thurmond Cantrell, Marble Hill; children, Georginna and Danny Bruce, Talking Rock, Terrell and Jessica Cantrell, Jasper; granddaughters, Caroline Cantrell and Sarah Childres.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Tonya Eberhart and Michael Carr will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home.
