Nancy Ruth Legere Thomason

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Nancy Ruth Legere Thomason, age 91, of Jefferson, GA, formerly of Perry, GA, who passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Mrs. Thomason was born in Barbourville, KY, a daughter to the late Ledford Clint Leger and the late Fannie Lunsford Leger. Mrs. Thomason was a Teacher and Media Specialist at Southside Elementary and Perry Middle School in Perry, GA, where she was also a member of the Perry United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thomason was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, GA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomason was preceded in death by her husband, James, “Jim” Louis Thomason, and two grandsons Stephen Kinnas and Jacob Cleveland.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Mortenson and her husband Kerry of Jefferson, GA, Elizabeth Ann Schotta and her husband Steve of Palm Coast, FL, Kathryn Louise Cleveland of Griffin, GA,  Janet Lee Thomason of Green Cove Springs, FL, Jill Thomason Gilchrist and her husband Rodney of Trussville, AL; son, James Fredrick Thomason of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Robert Kerry Mortensen and his wife Sue of Bogota, NJ, Matthew James Mortensen and his wife Sara of Athens, GA, Stephen Schotta of Rogers, AR, Natalie Hernandez and her husband Angel of Wyoming, Nancy Russell of Dallas, TX, Will Cleveland of Flagstaff, AZ, Rachel Clissold and her husband Matthew of Alexandria, VA, Hannah Pritchett and her husband Drew of Pelham, AL, Chelsea Bass and her husband Tyler of Pinson, AL, Sam Kinnas and his wife Kaitlyn of Mesa, CO and twelve greatgrandchildren also survive.

A private memorial service will be held by the family on a later date. Mrs. Thomason will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
