Dr. James Donald (Don) Brady, age 82, of Sugar Hill, GA entered peacefully into his eternal rest on June 8, 2023, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny C. Brady, Irene Snyder Brady, and his brother Kenneth Darrell Brady. Dr. Brady is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sue McCollum Brady of Sugar Hill; daughter Ashley Brady White and husband Seth of Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Jackson White, Ethan White, and Cora Elizabeth White, brother Wayne (Connie) Brady of Bogart GA; sister Janice Brady Maxwell (Sherrill) of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Brady was born on November 24, 1940, in Siler City, NC. He was a 1959 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School of Siler City, NC, and a 1970 graduate with a Bachelor of Science from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. In 1975, Dr. Brady earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He was a proud veteran and served three years in the United States Army (1966 – 1969).
Dr. Brady established his General Dentistry practice in 1976 in Franklin Springs GA where he practiced until his retirement in 2014.
He was a past member of the Gideons International, a charter member of the Rotary Club in Royston, GA, and served on the Board of Trustees at Emmanuel College for forty years, where he served as the National Alumni Association President. In 1980, he was recognized as the Alumnus of the Year of Emmanuel College. He and his family were long time members of The Springs Church in Franklin Springs, GA.
Dr. Brady served joyfully on the Board of the David Livingston Foundation/K.U.R.E. and was a great supporter of Hearts for Heaven Incorporated in Guatemala. He gave unselfishly in benefit performances to support orphanages in Ukraine, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Philippines donating countless hours providing much needed dentistry for the orphans where he was affectionately known as “Dr. Don.”
The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Flanigan Funeral Home located at 4400 S. Lee Street, Buford, GA 30518.
A Celebration of Life for Dr. Brady will be conducted at 2:00 pm on June 12, 2023, at 12Stone Church located at 3858 Braselton Highway, Buford GA 30518.
Memorial gifts may be made to Emmanuel College General Fund in memory of Dr. Brady.
