Bonnie Gentry

Bonnie Gentry, 79, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at her residence.

Born February 24, 1944 in Lumpkin County to the late Hubert and Vina Ingram, she lived most of her life in Dawson County.  Bonnie was employed at Forrest Hills for 35 years.  She enjoyed collecting thimbles and spending time with her grandchildren.  A member of Amicalola Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gentry; daughter, Sandra Duckworth; stepfather, Robert Hicks; sisters, Estell Jett, Kathy Robbins, Robin Hicks, Gladys Bruce; brothers, Rual Ingram, Roy Ingram, Danny Hicks, Gary “Durock” Hicks, Kenneth Hicks, and Ricky Hicks.

Surviving are her daughter, Tammy Thompson, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Wesley Thompson, Eric Thompson, Misty Duckworth, Tommy Duckworth; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Brown, Dahlonega, Caroline Fauscett, Dawsonville, Patty (Bill) McDaniel, Dawsonville, Betty Sue Hicks, Elberton; brother, Jimmy Hicks, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Hubert Tinsley and Rev. Dean Thompson will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3 beginning at 12 noon.
