Ora Faith Johnson Ramsey

Our beloved Ora Faith (Johnson) Ramsey was born on June 16, 1925, in Lavonia, GA to the union of Jeff and Classie Rice Johnson.
 
She attended school in Lavonia, GA until she was in her later teens. Then she went to Chattanooga, TN to stay with her uncle Clarence Rice where she finished high school.
 
After finishing high school, she moved to Gainesville, GA to live with her uncle and aunt Mr.  & Mrs. Ernest Rice.
 
Gainesville is where Ora met and married Charles Ramsey, Jr. They wed in September 1945 and were married until his passing. Their union of almost 60 years bore 4 children, Charles Edward, Clara, Ophelia & John.
 
She was a member of St. John Baptist Church and a member of the Dorcas Club.
 
She worked many different jobs - Swift Poultry Plant, Gainesville College, Private Home Health Care, and with Children with Special Needs. Her clients loved her so much they would always recommend her to their friends when a caregiver was needed. Families continued sending gifts and checking in on her long after the jobs ended.
 
She was a friendly person and had friends of all ages. All of them were special to her.
 
She loved working with her flowers and could tell when Ophelia would pinch off one of her flowers. Ora loved traveling and visited a lot of places. She loved helping to plan the Johnson & Rice Family Reunion. She loved her family.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff & Classie (Rice) Johnson, 11 sisters & 2 brothers, her husband Charles Ramsey Jr, her mother-in-law Evelyn Ramsey, her son-in-law Willie Darrel Dorsey, and her son Charles Edward Ramsey.
 
Known as Momma, Memomma, Granny, Grandma Faye, and Mrs. Ora, she leaves behind a sister, Hazel Washington, 3 loving children, Clara Ramsey Dorsey – Gainesville, GA, Ophelia Williams (Bruce Clyde) – Gillsville, GA, and John Ramsey (Shelia) – Flowery Branch, GA, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren who loved her, along with lots of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
