Irene M. Marder

Irene M. Marder, age 100, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022.  Mrs. Marder is survived by her six children, Joan and Greg Raines, Braselton, GA, Jane Rodgers, Tampa, FL, Patricia and George Shida, Berkley Lake, GA, Pamela Kane, Snellville, GA, Jack and Mary Marder, Lawrenceville, GA, Bill and Terri Marder, Hoschton, GA, twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. John E. Marder, sons-in-law Richard J. Dailey and William L. Kane, and granddaughters, Kathleen Marder, Sherrie Westbrook Sexton, and Matt Westbrook. .

Mrs. Marder was born on November 17, 1922, in Philadelphia, PA to parents Harry McAllister and Irene L Kinnard.  She attended Neptune High School in Ocean Grove, NJ.  Mrs. Marder resided in Freehold, NJ for a number of years before retiring in Ocala, FL.   She and her husband later moved to Dacula, GA where they were members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch, GA.  Mrs. Marder’s final residence was at Garden Plaza in Lawrenceville, GA, where she enjoyed her final years doing things she loved including bible study, whipping up her peanut butter balls for friends and family, as well as crocheting beautiful lap blankets for charity.  Irene’s joyful, loving spirit always had a way of brightening anyone’s day, and this is how she will be remembered.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Dec 14th at 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lilburn, GA.  For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed at sjnlilburn.com/online-masses.  Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or The Missionaries of The Poor.
