Ronald Michael Hamlet 11/15/37-8/25/22
Ronald M (Ronny) Hamlet, age 84, of Duluth, GA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 26, 2022. He was preceded in death by wife, Sandra Perkins Hamlet; father, Russell Hamlet; mother, Myrtle Lee Hamlet Gentry; sister, Joyce Lawley; great grandson, Collin Donaldson; maternal grandmother, Addie Lee (Memah); Aunt Tillie and Uncle Grady Barber. Mr. Hamlet is survived by children, Mistea Hamlet Donaldson of Colbert, GA, Toni Perkins Curtin of Hoschton, GA, Lori Perkins Fowler of Duluth, GA, Kim Perkins Hudon of Atlanta, GA, Brett Perkins of Atlanta; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; cousin, Sandy Tomilison of Canton, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Hamlet fought hard in hospice for 6 months. He was a US Marine at heart and had the will to live like no other! He was a good friend to so many! He’s now with his wife Sandra, who passed in 2011 - probably “Shagging” away. They both were excellent at dancing and loved being a part of “The Atlanta Shag Club.” Born in Atlanta and attending Bass High School, Mr. Hamlet lived an exciting life enjoying his many houseboats at Lake Lanier. He was a gifted and popular hairstylist in Atlanta/Buckhead in the 60’s-80’s, owning many hair salons to then transitioning to just men’s hair at his barber shop called “The Master Barber” located in Mall Corners in Duluth. Another passion he shared with his wife was their successful dachshund breeding business called “Grandma’s Hotdogs” in Duluth, GA which he continued until just before his death. The family expresses appreciation to their sister Lori, who moved in to care for him, along with the help of Ronny’s friend and roommate Phyllis, and his daughter Mistea for all their caretaking, support and love. Also much appreciation and thanks to his church and dear friend, Pastor Reed for always being there for him and his family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Peachtree Road Baptist Church in Suwanee, GA with Pastor Jay Reed officiating. Mr. Hamlet will lie in state at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022.
