Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. William Lonnie “Dub” Weldon, age 86, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Friday August 12, 2022. Mr. Weldon was born in Jackson County, Georgia the son of the late Linton Newton Weldon and Ethel Gregory Weldon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lou Buffington Weldon, son, Tim Weldon, two sisters, Eden Cochran and Ruth Brock, and a brother, Harold Weldon.
Mr. Weldon was a retired superintendent with APAC Paving Company, was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, Nicholson, Georgia, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Baugh (Jason) of Jefferson, GA, and Beth Colwell (Darwin) of Commerce, GA. Three sons, Rodney Long (Martha) of Smyrna, GA, Greg Weldon (Pam) of Commerce, GA, and Brad Weldon (Cathy) of Commerce, GA. Eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 15, 2022, from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Manus officiating. Burial will follow at Cabin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers, Darrell Chaisson, Charlie Watson, Clay Phillips, Todd Baxter, Conner McCullough, and Tommy Parker. Military honors will be presented at the graveside by Ft. Gordon Honor Guard.
