Claire Ellen Kilpatrick

Obituary Date: Wednesday, July 20, 2022
Claire Ellen Kilpatrick of Tiger, GA was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away June 20, 2022 at the age of 66. Claire was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 27, 1955.

Claire grew up in East Point, Georgia. As a child, she loved reading and had an adventurous spirit. She was happiest when riding her horse, Lucky. Her deep love for animals continued throughout her life. Claire graduated from Headland High School in 1973. She served as a nursing assistant at South Fulton Hospital, and then moved to Statesboro, Georgia where she served as Manager of the Halfway House at Willingway. In 1995, Claire graduated from Georgia Southern University where she studied Sociology with an Emphasis in Social Work. She then moved to Yatesville, Georgia where she served as a Child Advocate through the Department of Juvenile Justice. She was most proud to have advocated and served the children of Georgia for nineteen years. She was equally proud of her sobriety of almost forty years, where she was an active member of A.A. In 2010, she retired and moved to Tiger, Georgia to be closer to her mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. William Heard Kilpatrick and Dr. Carolyn Ann Martin, and her nephew Evan Watson.

She is survived by her aunt Mary Beth Martin, sister Carol Sue “Cammie” Watson, her brother William Albert “Bert” Kilpatrick (Tonya), many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews Bellamy Watson, Haley Kilpatrick Dozier (Paul), William Heard Kilpatrick II (Darby) and Kelly Kilpatrick Harris (Blake), and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a woman full of love and kindness, and she will be missed by many. A celebration of Claire’s life will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 2pm at Saint James Episcopal Church in Clayton, Georgia. All are welcome.
