Betty Anne Jones Scott

Betty Anne Jones Scott passed to her eternal home on June 23, 2022. She was born on November 15, 1928 in LaGrange, GA., the second beautiful daughter born to Alma and Bernard J. (BJ) Jones.
 
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  Rev. Bruce Shortell will officiate.  The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
 
Anne, who was a devoted, charming and sassy Southern lady, will be sorely missed by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alma and BJ Jones of LaGrange, her sister, Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Newberry of LaGrange, her first husband, Frank Jackson of LaGrange, GA, and her husband of 58 years, Robert Allen Scott of Flowery Branch, GA, daughter Lynn Scott Gable of Conyers, GA., nephew Gary Newberry of Savannah, GA and several aunts, uncles and cousins.       
 
Anne worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company in LaGrange, then after marriage was a loving caregiver to her girls. In Decatur, Anne worked part-time as a switchboard operator for Rich’s at South DeKalb Mall, then at Emory Hospital in patient information, and Rhoades Furniture Company’s front desk, before retiring. She enjoyed wedding cake decorating, baking, gardening, boating, fishing, traveling, reading, loving on their dogs, and with Bob she volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary at Lake Lanier (especially during the 1996 Olympics on the lake), GA Lions Club, and Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for several years when the girls were young. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family and was a wonderful cook. Anne loved to laugh and was a delight to all who knew her. She never knew a stranger. 
 
She is survived by her family members Dea S. Weller (Kirk J.) of Hampton, GA, and Susan L. Scott (Rob Godsall) of Atlanta, GA, and Richard N. Gable of Conyers, GA. Her grandchildren, Jennifer A. Gable of Conyers, GA, Susan G. Adair of Toccoa, GA, Candice W. Lefeber (Tim) of Fairmont, WV, Kristen Weller of Decatur, GA, Scott K. Weller (Kelsey) of Spokane, WA, and Jacob C. Weller (Danae) of Spokane Valley, WA., niece Carol Newberry Hill (Craig) of Guatemala and their daughters Catherine and Alison, and Craig Newberry (Leigh) of Sun City, FL. Great grandchildren include Devyn and Abigail Wilson, Damon, Rebekah, and Ariell Adair, Caroline and Carson Hamilton and Madelyn Lefeber, Clayton Weller, and Ava Weller, and great-great grandchild Eli Adair.
