Carrie McClain Hatfield

Mrs. Carrie McClain Hatfield, age 95, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.

A family graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at Alta Vista Cemetery.

Mrs. Hatfield was born May 29, 1926 in Lebanon, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Neal McClain and Carrie (Cowan) McClain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Hatfield, Jr.; granddaughter, Katie Hatfield; sister, Betty Taylor and Katherine Leathers; and sisters-in-law, Jennie Lewis, Betty Stockton; and brother-in-law, Sam Hatfield.

Mrs. Hatfield was a valued member of the First Presbyterian Church, She was involved in numbers civic groups including, past president and member of The Book Club; First Presbyterian Church Circle Leader, Food Pantry Chairman and “Women of the Church” Chairman; Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gray Lady and Window Shop Volunteer; Brenau Chapter ZTA Advisor; Girl Scout Leader (way back); and Jr. Service League, Charity Ball Chairman, Board and Principal Committees President.

She is survived by her children, Joe McClain Hatfield and  Rosalyn, Clarkesville, GA; and Betty Bowden Hatfield Goldberg of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Carrie Alexandria Hatfield, Caroline Goldberg, and Mariclaire Goldberg all of Gainesville; brother-in-law, Jim Lewis of Birmingham, AL; nieces, Ann Dyal, Lebanon, TN; Sharon Stockton, Mt. Juliet, TN; Mary Johnson, Crane Hill, AL; Nephews; Dr. A.T. (Tip) Taylor, Atlanta, GA; and Jimmy Leathers, Melbourne Beach, FL; several great-nieces, nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
