Kirk Evan Triemer

Obituary Date: Thursday, November 11, 2021

Kirk Evan Triemer, 61 years of age, slipped away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at his home.

Kirk was born in San Jose, CA on November 6, 1960 to William and Glenda (Stangland) Triemer.  He was the second born of four sons.

As a member of a military family, he moved around often.  He spent his childhood growing up in a variety of locations.  Some of his favorite memories were from Oxford, Mississippi, Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Newport, Rhode Island.  After moving to Gulf Breeze, Florida, his father retired from the Navy.  It was there that he met and married his high school sweetheart Deana (Cox) Triemer on September 6, 1979.  As a young adult, Kirk worked in retail management for a few different companies in several locations.  During this time, he and Deana welcomed their only child, Courtney (Triemer) Darling on October 30, 1981.  He went on to earn a degree in education from the University of New Orleans in 1993.  After relocating to Georgia, he spent a year teaching Head Start in Buford.  From 1994 through 2006, he taught kindergarten, second grade, and Reading Recovery at Norcross Elementary School.  In 2006, he retired into long term disability from Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Kirk was a kind and gentle soul.  He was exceptionally considerate of others as well as endlessly generous.  He was passionate about art and nature and could find beauty in anything.  He loved animals and they loved him.  He was lovingly nicknamed the “whisperer” by his family because of his natural ability to connect with any and all living things.  He created beauty in everything he did.  He was a talented artist who was most at home surrounded by nature.  In recent years his favorite pastimes were walking the trails on his property with his dog, Bitty Bear, and learning about a variety of mysteries in life.  History and the unknown were the things that piqued his interest the most.  His greatest joys came from spending time with his family.  The arrival of his only grandchild, Molly Marie Darling, in 2011 brought him immeasurable happiness.  This great man will be missed infinitely by all that knew him.

Kirk was predeceased by his father, William Triemer.  He is survived by his wife, Deana Triemer, his daughter, Courtney Darling and her husband Jim Darling, and his granddaughter, Molly Darling.  He is also survived by his mother, Glenda Triemer, his brothers, David (Tayve), Andrew (Helen) and Michael Triemer, his brother-in-law, Jim (Chrysta) Cox, along with multiple nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 3 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Mr. Jim Cox will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2 – 3 PM at the funeral home. Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel 770-945-6924 Share memories of Kirk at hamiltonmillchapel.com
