Margie Wood Armburst

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 9, 2021

Margie Wood Armbrust, age 62, of Buford, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, the 9th of September, 2021.

Margie was born on August 20th, 1959 in Norcross, Georgia.  As the oldest of 5 siblings, she was definitely protective of her younger brothers and sisters.  Growing up in the same community as the rest of her very large extended family, Margie was usually playing with or spending time with her dozens of cousins.  She was particularly close with her grandmother, Minnie Wood, and she often remarked what an incredibly positive influence her grandmother had on her life.

After high school, Margie got married to her husband, Lannie Armbrust, and together they had 2 children—Justin and Natalie.  As her kids were growing up, Margie’s home was always full with her children’s friends.  She truly saw her kids’ friends as her “adopted children”, and she never hesitated to invite them to family dinners, activities, or vacations.  And when her children got married—Justin to Allison and Natalie to Steven—she loved her daughter-in-law and son-in-law as much as her own 2 kids (and sometimes maybe even more!).

Margie was a successful business owner, and she ran a mortgage brokerage for over 20 years.  She was a true believer in the value of hard work, and she was dedicated to always doing what was right—whether in support of her clients or her family.  Despite being such a hard worker and successful business owner, Margie never missed one of her kids’ school activities or sporting events.  Her love and support of her family was a hallmark value she carried with her during her whole life.  Whenever anyone needed help, she was always there for them in whatever capacity she could be.  She would truly give you the shirt off her own back if you needed it!

While she loved her children and the rest of her family immensely, her 4 precious grandchildren that called her Mimi—Julianne, Jackson, Jace, and Lane—may have been her greatest love of all.  Whether she was baking, doing crafts, singing to them, reading to them, telling them about Jesus, or simply lending an ear to hear about their day, she loved every minute she could spend with them.  Even as her health was deteriorating, a single minute with one of her grandchildren would lift her spirits and brighten her day.

Margie is survived by her children and their spouses, Justin & Allison Armbrust and Natalie & Steven Alvord, her 4 grandchildren Julianne & Jackson Armbrust (Justin/Allison) and Jace & Lane Alvord (Natalie/Steven), her father Charles Wood Sr. and stepmother Gretta Wood, her siblings Keith Wood (Anna), Melissa DiAmbrose (Alex), and Josh Wood, and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her mother Carole Phillips, her husband Lannie Armbrust, and her brother Charles Wood Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, the 17th of September at three o’clock in the afternoon at 12Stone Church – Hamilton Mill campus with Mark Eiken officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to Promise686, Inc.
