Rebecca Ann Gorczyca

Obituary Date: Tuesday, February 23, 2021

Rebecca Ann Gorczyca 62, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021.

Rebecca Ann Kennedy Gorczyca loved the life she, her husband Tom, and her son Jake made in Cumming, Georgia but she was a true Texas gal at heart. Becky was born to Bettye and Bob Kennedy in Killeen, Texas on November 12, 1958. As she liked to remind her brother Hamp and her sister Lisa, she was the youngest of the three. Becky grew up in Belton, Texas and was active in cheerleading and band before graduating from Belton High School.  Becky attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas and was a double major in real estate and marketing in only 3-1/2 years. She was smart as a whip.

Becky put her education to good use as a highly successful realtor in Dallas, Texas and then Atlanta and Cumming, Georgia. Tom would tell you she operated on real estate time, always 20 minutes late. When her son, Jake, became active in sports, Becky gave up her career to devote herself to leading his fan club no matter what sport he played. Everyone knew not to call Becky on Sunday afternoons during NFL football games. She cheered on the Dallas Cowboys every chance she got even if it meant losing in the football pool.

In addition to Tom and Jake, Becky’s other big loves were her four-legged companions over the years – Rusty, Cosmo, Tebow and Atlas – and she had a fascination for turtles from a very young age.  She was fiercely devoted to family, all children and all animals, and loved reminiscing about family good times.  She loved dancing and entertaining, and cooking. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was fun loving and exuberant about anything that mattered to her or those she loved. Politics was a favorite topic of debate which always livened up family discussions. Reading, listening to music, and walking in the woods were ways to relax but Becky was always ready for a good party. Her family and friends say she would do anything for anyone and would never say no, even when she should. But first and foremost, Becky was a warrior, facing down every challenge thrown her way until she could fight no more. Her motto was “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.”

Becky left her family on earth on February 23, 2021, after a brief illness and joined her loving parents, Bettye and Bob Kennedy, and brother-in-law Scott Gorczyca, all of whom recently pre-deceased her. She leaves behind her husband, Tom Gorczyca, and their son, Jake Gorczyca, brother Hamp and his family, sister Lisa and her family, sisters-in-law Marion, Linda and Gayle and their families, brothers-in-law Tim and Mark and their families.
