Floyd Damon Kinser Jr.

Obituary Date: Saturday, December 19, 2020

Floyd Damon Kinser Jr., 93, left his earthly bonds on 12/19/2020 to be received by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He is preceded by the love of his life, Bobbye L. Kinser, and his grandson, Kenneth Moore III.  He is survived by his sister, Alice Chenoweth, his brother, George A. Kinser, his son, Kenneth Kinser and daughter in law, Linda Kinser, his daughter, Teree Nethery and son in law, Martin Nethery, his daughter, Judy Powell and son in law, Timothy Powell, his daughter, Laurie Moore and son in law, Kenneth Moore Jr., his son, David Kinser and daughter in law, Jennifer Kinser, and his beloved grandchildren: Kelsey Nethery, Lauren (Moore) Riley, Jacob Powell, Elijah Powell, Jordan Powell, Nathan Kinser, Madeline Kinser, and Sydney Kinser.  There are many others that called him Grandpa including his extended family of step-grandchildren.

Born in Leitchfield, Ky., Damon proved his resilience by surviving the Great Depression as a child, his patriotism by joining the Navy during WWII on his 18th birthday, his intellect by completing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the top of his class, his faith in God through his patriarchal moral compass and service to the church, his dedication and love in support of his family of five children, his commitment to hard work through his 38 years of service for South Central Bell/AT&T, his charity as an active member of the Lions Club for over 30 years and as President of the Auraria Club, his sense of humor with a contagious laughter, and his loyalty and everlasting love toward his wife of 62+ years.  He taught us these life lessons with a genuine humility.  He rarely found anyone that he would not call a friend.

Dad, mission accomplished, at ease.  We wish you fair winds and following seas.  We love you and will see you again when our Heavenly Father calls us home.

There is not a public memorial service planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Lumpkin County at https://habitatlumpkin.org/about-lumpkin-county-habitat/ or mailed to 62 John Walker Rd, Dahlonega, GA 30533
