William Wallace Jones

William Wallace Jones, age 82 went home to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 19, 2020 in Gainesville, GA after a lengthy illness. He was born to Fay Wallace Jones and Claude Leake Jones Sr. on November 28, 1938, in Greenwood, Mississippi.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, his wife Jane, and a brother Claude Leake Jones Jr.

He is survived by a sister Faye Webb and husband Charlie, daughter Ellen Cooper, son John Carroll, grand-daughter Holly -husband Jacob Slott, and great-grandchildren Owen and Kate Slott.

William attended school in Holmes County, Mississippi. He graduated high school from Tchula High School in 1956. After High School he attended Delta State University, in Cleveland Mississippi.

William’s lifelong work was in retail merchandising. That is where he met his love of his life, Jane. He worked in and managed stores in Mississippi, Texas, and most recently the Walmart in Gainesville. He never met a stranger, and always had a joke up his sleeve that would bring a smile to someone’s eye.

William’s faith was central to his life and he often encouraged others with God’s love. He was a proud member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church, in Gainesville.

The family would like to say a special thank you Robert and Mary Kidd, and Pastor Dave Channel, and other friends and neighbors. Your love and care is greatly appreciated. 

Due to Covid-19 a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Memorial Park.
