Douglas Johnson

Douglas Vincent Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA entered rest suddenly on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Douglas was born in Montclair, New Jersey on April 22, 1957. He was the seventh child to the union of the late Clarence and Louise (Curry) Johnson. Douglas attended public schools in Montclair, New Jersey and graduated from Montclair High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1974-1978 with an Honorable discharge. In 1979 he moved to New York City, New York where he met and married the love of his life, the late Annette K Appleby. Together they raised her daughter Tawana Jenkins. After living in New York, he relocated to Georgia where he worked several jobs which include: Whitehead Road Elementary in Athens, GA; Ryder Logistics in Duluth, GA; and Van’s Transport Service in Lawrenceville, GA. Douglas was an avid chess player and indulged in numerous tournaments. He loved music, especially the Bass guitar. He had a great sense of humor, he loved playing tricks and telling jokes and he enjoyed playing scratch offs! Douglas is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Johnson Jr. and Louise Curry Johnson; his sister Linda Gail Johnson Crenshaw; brother Clarence Johnson III, Gregory Dexter Johnson and one brother-in law Mathew Lawson Douglas leaves to morn his stepdaughter Tawana Jenkins of Virginia; three sisters: Princestina Lawson of Lawrenceville, GA, Dorothy Yvonne (Charlie) Brown of Ackworth, GA, Deborah A. (Tony) Barrett of Newark, New Jersey; one brother Anthony Curry Johnson of Sandy Springs, GA; one sister-in-law Latricia Johnson of Conley, GA; one niece raised as a sister Deryl L. (Robert) Reed; six aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. For those who knew him, knew he had a kind heart and was extremely knowledgeable about politics, sports, etc. There are no words that can describe what you meant to us. We loved you, but God loved you more.
Mr. Johnson visitation will be Friday September 11th at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 3-7pm. The service will be Saturday September 12th at Christ The King at 1pm.
