Ramona Elizabeth Harris

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 9, 2020
Ramona Elizabeth Harris, age 56, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on August 9th, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.

Mona was born on October 27th, 1963 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Charles Lindbergh Harris and June Ozburn Harris. Her beloved daughter, Hannah Ozburn Truelove, precedes her in death.

Mona spent her formative years in Griffin where she graduated from Griffin High School in 1981. While in attendance, she was an active participant in drama, softball, and varsity cheerleading. She went on to attend Georgia Southern University, then transferring to the University of North Georgia, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1987.

In the years following, Mona moved to Gainesville where she remained as a resident until her death. She developed a career helping young people, first working as a psychometrist for several medical facilities in the North Georgia area. She went on to serve as a social worker, and finally in most recent years as a pre-school teacher. By far, her proudest accomplishment was her daughter, Hannah. Anyone that knew Mona well appreciated her witty sense of humor, her unique style, and her love of music and animals.

Survivors include her brother, Charles Timothy Harris of New Orleans, Louisiana, her sister, Monica Lauren Harris of Griffin, Georgia, and her partner, Jonathan Gregory Griffin, of Gainesville, Georgia. Several cousins and extended family also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 at Timber Ridge Baptist Church, 4895 Timber Ridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mona’s memory to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, 845 West Ridge Road in Gainesville, Georgia.

Due to the current pandemic, the family respectfully requests that all attendees wear a mask and observe proper social distancing measures of at least six feet. If you are unable to attend please visit the facebook page of Ward's Funeral Home to view the service via live stream.
