Stanley Eugene Black

Mr. Stanley Eugene Black, 72, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Stacey Phillips, Rev. Clack Stubbs and Rev. Garry English will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Born on July 12, 1948, in Gainesville, he was the son of the late J.D. and Gussie Godfrey Black. Mr. Black was employed with Wrigley’s for 33 years. 

Mr. Black was a veteran of the United States Navy, a deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and a member of the Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge 212.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Black is preceded in death by his brothers, Reuben Black, Doug Black and Horace Black.

Mr. Black is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice C. Black of Gainesville; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Tonya Black of Flowery Branch, Chris and Tina Black of Gainesville; grandchildren, Ryan Black, Lily Black, Riley Black; sisters in law, Gladys Black, Frankie Jones (Bob), Frances Williams (Mondell), Mary Ann Trusty, Janie Robinson (Vernon), Helen Herrington (Steve) as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church building fund, 3650 Browns Bridge Rd., Gainesville, GA 30504.
