Bill Mark Mavity

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2020

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, Bill Mark Mavity, loving father and grandfather, passed away at age 88.  Bill was born in Oklahoma during the Depression but moved to East Tennessee at the age of two.  Bill enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War.  He returned to Tennessee after his military service to enroll in college and meet his bride of nearly 60 years, Joy McGee.  Bill became an engineer at Square D Company for 37 years.  Bill and Joy had one son, Brian Keith of Gainesville, Ga.  They lived with him since 2006.  Bill was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, and two brothers.  Bill is lovingly remembered by his son, daughter-in-law Marsi, and six grandchildren, Justin, Kaylin, Lauren, Ashley, Peyton, and Reagan.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the regulations put into place for the safety of everyone, a private family service with no more than 10 people will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 17, 2020 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Jeff Bagwell will officiate.  A family interment will be held Tuesday April 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.

Bill belonged to the Shriners, Scottish Rite Freemasons, V.F.W., and American Legion.  He enjoyed investing in real estate, spending time on the Tennessee River, Lakes, Allatoona and Lanier, and pulling for his Tennessee Vols.  His greatest passion was his family and his relationship with Jesus Christ.   He was a caregiver to his bride for many years as she battled Alzheimer’s, all the while he was battling his own physical ailments.  His love of Christ manifested in many ways, such as anonymous gifts to others in need and the abundance of love as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association/ Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30346 or the Phoenix Community, 123 Green Street, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 in memory of Mr. Mavity.
