As election season comes upon us, I realize I too am a politician. I make laws all day long. However, my constituents, who are between the ages of 3 – 9 years old, continue to remind me that they did not vote me in office.

My kids could benefit from some waiting, but they haven’t had the advantage of living in an era outside of the fast-paced world of “right now” and “on-demand.”

I tell my kids “no” a lot. Christmas is the time of year when I say “YES” a lot.

There are seasons when I really feel like giving thanks, and seasons when I do not.

This may be the season of food, but this is NOT the season for people who do not like to cook.

This might seem like the beginnings of a Christmas story. It is not. It is the beginning of a story about the scary things that live under the couch.

I call them my foyer friends because they stay in the nice and neat tidy foyer of my life and never move beyond the front room of my heart.

I have an 8-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a “watches-Frozen-every-day” year old.
