Georgia's confirmed coronavirus caseload doubled in just three days to more than 2,000 people infected and 64 deaths, state health officials said Friday.

A Banks County man is one of ten people charged in connection with an alleged food poisoning insurance fraud ring.

The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in Georgia now tops 50 and the number of confirmed cases in Hall County is now 22.

A University of North Georgia student, who was last on the Gainesville campus two weeks ago, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Georgia has just experienced its wettest winter on record and it was also one of the mildest, with Gainesville recording only 18 days of freezing or below temperatures.

Two more deaths and 20 more confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported in Georgia Sunday night by state health officials.

The Jackson EMC Foundation board of directors awarded $77,500 in grants during its February meeting, including $35,000 to organizations serving Hall County.
