Area banks among 'safest' in the US, according to new report
Several banks in the immediate Gainesville area are on a list of the 369 safest in the county, according to a new report.

GDOT awards $55M+ for statewide work, $9M for Forsyth Co.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Friday awarded 17 contracts for more than $55 million in new transportation infrastructure improvements across the state, including two for $9 million for work in Forsyth County.

Jobs report presents mixed blessing for Obama
President Barack Obama got new jobs figures Friday to buttress his argument that he's presiding over steady, if slow, economic growth. But the government's report that the overall rate of unemployment actually crept up by one-tenth of a point allows Republican Mitt Romney to keep pressure on Obama to defend his record.
