Toyota said Wednesday it is recalling 1.9 million hybrid Prius cars globally for a software glitch that could cause the vehicle to stall.

Here's a look by the numbers at how some agencies are responding to a storm that is supposed to bring snow, "catastrophic" ice and widespread power outages to Georgia, including the Atlanta metro area.

Winds are beginning to howl across much of Georgia, with gusts of 30 mph in Chamblee, a suburb of Atlanta, the National Weather Service reported, adding another wrinkle to the winter storm battering the state.

Amtrak has suspended some service, including the Crescent, which includes Gainesville and other places in north Georgia.

Many north Georgians stayed home Tuesday, their workplace or school closed for the day because of snow that began falling just before daybreak - as expected.

The latest advisory from the National Weather Service says additional accumulations of snow, ranging from 6-10 inches, can be expected across most of north Georgia today, including the Gainesville area. But in extreme northeast Georgia, up to a foot could accumulate.

National Weather Service forecasters say huge amounts of ice will make travel "impossible" in the hardest-hit areas.
