Vikings hold off Flowery Branch for sixth straight Lanierland title
East Hall climbed out of an early 9-0 hole with an 18-5 run and then held off several late surges by Flowery Branch to take a nail-biting 75-71 win and capture their sixth straight Jackson EMC Lanierland boys basketball title Saturday night at the East Hall gym. The Vikings have now won 13 of the last 14 Lanierland titles.

Revenge may not have been the main motivation for the East Hall girls basketball team Friday against Flowery Branch. But the Lady Vikings sure played like it dismantling the Lady Falcons 48-24 in the semifinals of the Jackson EMC Lanierland tournament at the East Hall gym.

Redmon sparks GHS past West Hall; Manomano pours in 32
Trailing West Hall by four points late in the third quarter Gainesville needed a spark. Sophomore Ty Redmon gave it to them. Redmon scored five straight points to give the Elephants the lead and then hit a 30-foot 3-pointer at the end of the quarter to propel Gainesville to a 79-66 win in the consolation round of the Jackson EMC Lanierland boys basketball tournament at the Johnson High gym.

Lanierland semis set for Friday; consolation round Tuesday
The semifinals are set for the 48th annual Jackson EMC Lanierland basketball tournament. The tournament will resume Tuesday at Johnson High School with the consolation brackets for both the boys and girls tournaments. The semifinals are scheduled for Friday at the East Hall gym and offer compelling matchups in both the girls and boys brackets.
