Miami captures first ACC baseball title
The University of Miami sent 10 batters to the plate during a four-run first inning and went on to defeat Virginia, 8-4, Sunday afternoon to clinch the championship game of the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

LSU wins first SEC baseball title since 2000
The LSU Tigers once seemed a longshot to even make the Southeastern Conference tournament, and were snubbed when the postseason honors came out. Tournament MVP Blake Dean hit a two-run homer and the Tigers scored the final seven runs to beat Mississippi 8-2 on Sunday, win a school-record 20th game in a row and claim their first SEC tournament title since 2000.

Lanier National Speedway brought out the big guns...er, wheels to get the Memorial Day festivities under way Sunday night. The 3/8ths-mile oval concluded a two-day event of Monster Truck racing with a fireworks display jusy before midnight as a huge crowd was on hand.
